Having existed for many centuries, the Moulin d’Asselborn museum is considered one of the oldest water mills of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. We can trace its beginnings back to 1036, when the Abbey St. Maximin acquired the property of Asselborn via a contract of exchange with the monastery Stablo-Malmedy.

Nestled within the Hotel du Moulin in Asselborn, visitors can discover the fascinating Water Mill Museum. This historic museum is widely considered one of the oldest water mills in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and offers a unique glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region. The Water Mill Museum showcases the equipment and machinery that was once used to grind grain, as well as an interactive display that allows visitors to experience the traditional milling process firsthand. This immersive experience provides a deeper understanding of the vital role that water mills played in the daily lives of Luxembourg’s inhabitants. Visitors can explore the history of the Water Mill Museum and gain insight into the evolution of traditional milling practices.
